I am a 5th year senior double major in Dance and Biology. I am an Honors Student and working Scholar-Citizen Fellow. I started off my journey at Radford as a double major with Dance and Sports Medicine. At the end of my junior year into the fall of my first senior year I felt lead to change my Sports Medicine degree to a Biology degree. I wanted to go deeper into my study of the body and other organisms, and I felt like my faith was leading me to a career more centered in Biology.
To back-track just a bit, I grew up in West Virginia where I lived with my parents and siblings. Through my time growing up I almost always had a grandma living with me. My grandmas were the ones who helped shape me into the person I am today. They both taught me strength, patience, the importance of hard work, and the need that people have to be loved. As they have now passed, my mission is to continue to carry those qualities with me throughout every step of my journey. My family, including my parents, siblings, and aunts and uncles, constantly encourage and love on me to try my best to reach my goals and objectives. My objectives are to continually learn and explore the fields of science and dance. In learning, I want to connect the worlds of science and the arts, and show their completely and beauty. I strive to learn something new every day and to apply that knowledge to my studies and life. I have a passion for researching and always love learning new ways to tackle problems. I love to volunteer at my church and through the Christian ministry CRU. Through my relationship with Christ I have found such freedom and drive to make people feel welcomed and loved.
I am getting married this summer to my fiance who is in the Army. I will be moving to Texas to live with him upon marriage after graduation. This is a huge step for me, as I have always lived relatively close to my parents. I am looking forward to this scary and exciting time though, and can't wait to see what kind of new experiences come up along the way!
